2020 has given me more experience than ever in helping clients navigate massive changes to their wedding days, and helping couples find the joys of intimate gatherings when they had originally planned massive, crazy parties. So I had a little extra bit of happiness for Christina and Len, who either had the luck or foresight to plan an elopement before all of this.
Of course, their original plan for a City Hall wedding wasn’t meant to be, but that brought at least as much opportunity as disappointment. While I love and miss the crazy chaotic energy of the New York Wedding Bureau, where one bride in a leopard print dress might mingle next to another in a $20,000 wedding gown, a gorgeous day at Central Park’s Ladies Pavilion is a pretty handy replacement.
After getting ready at a friend’s apartment near the park, they had a double first look … with each other and their very, very excited dog. The ceremony was officiated by another newly ordained friend, who clearly relished the part. I don’t need to tell you anything about the emotion of the day — you’ll see it in the beaming smiles pictured below. But I can say that I had a great time with them wandering around the park, picking our way through the Ramble, even more rambly than usual thanks to scores of trees and limbs downed by Hurricane Isaias.
